How our Performance Mentality Affects our Movement Routine

SOLO

Have you ever stopped to ask yourSelf why you move your body?

Where did you learn how to move your body?

What physical activities did you grow up doing?

How has moving your body shifted with age?

I grew up a university level athlete. I was taught to move my body to perform and that my body was a machine to run fast and score goals.

When I was playing well on the field, I felt like I was a better person. For years I attached my worth to what my physical body could do.

But what happens when your body isn't able to move like it's 'supposed' to? What happens when the universe starts to give you strong signs to slow down?

Do you listen . . . do you realllllly listen?

I had a turning point in my athletic career and sprained my ankle after reaching my goal of making the starting line-up. I was crushed. BUT it was the universe's way of asking me to listen. For weeks I felt lost and uncertain. Soccer was like a second skin to me.

I slowly came back to my body through yoga but still the goal of the game was handstand.

I continued to go to yoga and became a yoga teacher and my original class style was very physical. This is because I was taking my performing mindset into my teaching style.

Years later, my performing mindset is settling, it is beginning to dissolve leaving me space to move my body for me.

Tune-in to today's episode to learn if you are moving your body to perform or to feel at home. And take your first steps to shift your performance mindset TODAY!
